I was born and raised in South Western WV. In general (and I dont mean to sound biased) but WV turns out some of the finest most skilled truckers in the industry because the tiny, steep, switch back riddled roads that most truckers wont attempt is the roads we learned to drive truck on. The WV natives are for the most part pretty trucker friendly as well. When her mugshot was posted, I had to go to the comments section and was especially disappointed to see a lot of people taking shots at truckers and lumping all of us truckers on the road now with this dirtbag. It was a big black eye for the industry and especially those of us truckers who have done our best to respect the communities and residents where we have worked which I still do to this day anywhere I'm at in the country; just to have some loose cannon from out of town get negative attention put on us and judged by a lot of people because she dont know how to act. Her home state isnt listed, only her current charges and a lot of assumptions that this is just the breed of truckers we are today. That should piss off every trucker everywhere too.

I happened to work for Fedex Ground in Sacramento and I remember a Celedon trailer parked in the yard less than 2 weeks before (Celedon's) shutdown. My employer receives these trailers and we load them customers' packages, then send the driver to the destination hub. The provider strictly designates that trailer head to that destination (FedEx's) prior to heading the provider's local terminal.

I don't have a answer for this stuff, but I do have a question. Do you think some of this goofy shit can be avoided by tightening hiring practices? Seems like the only requirement nowadays is a warm body and a heartbeat. On the other hand, I have no idea how to tell if someone is going to go batshit crazy in the future. Pretty damn frustrating.

I am a female driver myself. Have been for 33 years. Not worried about this making me or any other drivers look bad. As far as I’m concerned she just made herself look bad!! We have a whole lot of drivers out here making us look bad just by how they drive!! I do get your point though. The trucking industry is going downhill so bad because of a whole lot of companies putting the wrong people behind the wheels of their trucks. Look how many of them can’t read, write, speak or understand English!! That is a really big problem for the whole industry!!

I worked for ANR advance we shut down in 1998 at that time we had the oldest icc number I think it was 264 originally Garrett freight number but was purchased by ANR in the 80s and they kept and used the number until we closed now I work for ABF freight and were 101 years old starting in 1923

This is what happened to most of the major carriers after "Deregulation" . President Jimmy Carter signed the Motor Carrier Act in 1980. The legislation removed federal entry controls in interstate trucking and made it easier for carriers to reduce rates. I was just a 12 year old kid in 1980, so I don't know the whole story. My grandpa started driving truck in 1945 after the war as an O/O. In 1950 he joined the Teamsters and drove for Chet Base, Time DC, US Motors, and finely for Rogers Trucking. Inc; hauling for Simpson Paper out of Pomona California. He retired in 1989. I was an O/O from 1990-1996, then hauled food grade tanker for local family outfits until 2000, when I joined the "Smokies". I'll retire soon, but miss driving.

My Grandmother worked for R & L carriers for 28 years. She was still working when she passed suddenly. Her life insurance policy beneficiary was her mentally handicapped daughter who was legally incompetent and unable to sign over money from the life insurance to pay for the funeral. I was 24 years old at the time and had just taken in my disabled aunt. When I found out that I had no way to pay for the funeral I was devastated. I received a call from the funeral home that the whole funeral and burial was paid for a whole $14000. Apparently the HR representative I worked with contacted the owner and he personally paid for her entire funeral. I can never fully express my gratitude to this company for what they did for me and my family! This was in 2014
